I generally check the Windows 8 Dictionary.com app every day to see what the Word of the Day is. The app gives you other stuff, too, like local searches (which I’m guessing means what words have people in your general area searched for) and interesting quotes.
At any rate, today’s word was “plication,” which means “the act or procedure of folding.” When I saw that word and definition, my first thought was that it was a little odd. Wouldn’t that mean, then, that “multiplication” means the act of folding something many times? How does that work?
Then it all made sense. The Holtzman Effect is all about folding space/time and higher mathematics.
